Marietta Schwartz is a native of Minnesota, where she did her
undergraduate studies at the College of St. Benedict. She then moved to
the University of Wisconsin - Madison for doctoral work, and upon
completing her thesis in 1988 accepted a position in the chemistry
department at UMass Boston. Her primary teaching responsibility during
those years has been the sophomore level organic chemistry sequence.
She is very interested in instructional technology and educational
research, and sees OCW as a natural offshoot of those interests.
