Things to do this week:
1. Read this plan in its entirety.
2. View the PowerPoint Lecture linked in this module on Web Searching Strategies. Robert Kelley who teaches this course in the fall is the narrator.
3. Read all the search articles linked in this module and be sure to review the links on Search Engine Comparisons.
4. Spend sometime investigating Google. Read through the Google resources posted below and then spend sometime playing with google. Look for features you didn't know it had. Experiment with features that you've always been curious about. Plan to spend at least a couple of hours looking around in Google's nooks and crannies. I've included a link to a video from a the TED conference annual technology conference in which the Google founders talk about Google's unique mission and values. Google has very different view of the world from Microsoft and it's embrace of open source software and tools has been an essential part of it's success.
