[The personal connections between the Carolingian kings and their
followers became the basis of a new political and administrative
structure. Also, the promotion of religious scholarship and education,
together with the introduction and dissemination of a rapid, legible
script (Caroline minuscule), encouraged a cultural revival which united
diverse elements into a distinctive legacy.]
