The goal of the autobiographical assignment is two-fold, one to learn to use the assignment drop box in web ct and second to start build a community within your section. Read the posting from the professor in the discussion section listed as your greatest hopes and fears and write a response. As you use this post you will see how threaded discussions are used to share ideas and thoughts. You will also begin to have a sense that all of you share common feelings and beliefs. Begin to think about the organization of your thoughts before your post. During this course your postings need to be an accounting of thoughtful and deliberate writing. |

From your readings and building upon your discussions write a three page paper discussing the benefits or risks to multi-state licensure for Registered Nurses. Please use at least three sources and cite all sources using APA format. See the course calendar for due dates and rewrite dates. |

Next week, you and your group will present a topic on a legal issue in nursing practice. You have been assigned to a group and a topic. Check to see the other members of your group and plan to “meet” to prepare your presentation. See next week’s assignment for details. |
| 6 | Legal Issues in Nursing Practice. Groups will be assigned one of the discussion topics for this week. The groups will prepare a power point presentation for their classmates on their assigned topic. The power point will be sent to your instructor by e-mail no later than 5 pm on the Tuesday before the presentations are due. Groups will define the topic (1 pt), discuss the current standards related to the topic (1 pt), analyze and summarize any risks or issues with the topic of which their peers need be aware (1 pt). There should be no more than 8 slides (This includes a title slide and a reference list). One point will be given for presentations that do not exceed 10 minutes. Wimba software will be used to promote questions and discussion. On the Friday after the presentation, you will individually complete and submit the Group Process Evaluation (1 pt – percentages of this point will be taken off for late submissions). |
| 7 | The ANA supports staffing ratios for nursing. How will this position impact the budgeting process at your practice setting? This is a good time to talk to your manager about the budgeting process that she uses and how the unit is staffed. Please write a five page paper on this subject. Use APA format and at least four sources from current literature. Please check the course calendar for when the first draft is due. |

After viewing this week's power point and reading the assignments. I would like each of to consider your current job, or current status in your career, compared to what you think your job will look like in 5 years....based on the drivers that affect you and at your job. (5 pts) This simply needs to be a graphic representation. You can use 2 PowerPoint slides, if you like, and use the shapes and arrows to represent your self and then drivers. The first slide will show the graphic presentation of Socio-economic drivers affecting you, the second slide will show the graphic presentation of your job and the specific agencies, issues that affect your job. |
